My services.
There are many counseling methods and viewpoints. I’d like to share with you a little bit about how I work.
My counseling is:
Trauma-Informed
I look for root causes of symptoms including developmental or complex trauma. I can diagnose, but I won’t unless it’s medically necessary. We will understand your current strengths and challenges through the lens of trauma, attachment, nervous system function, and ego states.
Somatic
I will frequently ask you how your body is feeling or reacting in the session. Tracking our “felt sense” helps us know how to direct the counseling process. It’s okay if you come into counseling without many feelings, or if you come in with a cascade of feelings. We can start wherever you are. Trauma and stress are stored in our body, so true healing needs to access body feelings. You will have the option for me to guide you in movement, breathwork, or other practices to help shift feelings and release stored stress.
Psychodynamic
I will dig deep with you. We work to understand your life experiences, and get to the “why” behind your current stuck points. We can also work on coping skills and behavioral skills to support growth and change, but I will offer more than that. For example, if you are experiencing depression, I won’t just help you feel better now, I will also work with you to heal the root of the depression, to reduce future episodes of depression.
